Intro to upcoming Peak Performance Blog topics:

This week I’m going to kick off a new blog series titled “Peak Performance“.  Whether your goal is weight loss, recovering from an injury / surgery, wanting a more active lifestyle, wanting to participate in a 5k, or just wanting to feel better, “Peak Performance” will share ideas, and help you along your journey.  The goal is to help you feel great, be energized, become comfortable with your appearance, and capable of living life to its fullest.  Our blog series will include three important and interrelated areas and their topics:

  1. Mental preparation:  Arguably the most overlooked aspect of peak performance.
  • Creating a positive mindset and mental toughness
  • Determining your “what and why”
  • Developing your mental toughness plan
  • Overcoming self-doubt, “friction”, and obstacles along your journey

 2.  Nutrition:  Fueling your machine to achieve peak performance.

  • What is good nutrition and why does it matter?
  • The energy equation:  The key to weight management
  • Macronutrient roles and functions
  • Common nutritional problems and healthy eating habits
  • Super foods
  • Recovery / hydration
  • Eating out strategies

 3.  Purposeful activity: How to move to achieve your goals.

  • What is purposeful activity, and how much does it contribute to body composition?
  • What counts, or does not, as purposeful activity?
  • How much is enough?
  • Resistance vs. cardio and how to exercise for weight loss
  • Where to obtain help with resistance training

You will see how these three components interact and how you can manage them to achieve your version of “Peak Performance”.  I am excited about our new blog series and am looking forward to comments and questions.
